According to reports, the dubbed ” the store with the worst lighting in UK ” is about to close.
The store is Rackhams Department Store in Skipton, North Yorkshire, UK, belongs to Britain’s century-old store — Houseof Fraser, one of the 31 stores to be closed as part of the restructuring plan.
In recent years, this store has been criticized by lighting professionals for the poor lighting in the store.
Lighting professionals criticized the store for bad commercial lighting, lamp damage aging, wire exposed, lighting confusion. Therefore, Rackhams was dubbed ” the store with the worst lighting in UK”.
Closing the store is part of the proposed CVA (corporate voluntary settlement program), need to obtain approval from creditors, intends to make a decision on June 22.
Frank Slevin, chairman of Houseof Fraser told the press:” The retail industry is undergoing fundamental changes, Houseof Fraser urgently needs to adapt to this rapidly changing situation, create a future for it and make it flourish.”
As the retail industry is responding to the rapid rise of online shopping, Houseof Fraser is one of many high-end brands that announced the closure of stores this year.
Although flagship stores are still equipped with interiors emphasizing shopping experience, but traditional stores may lack investment like Rackhams.
Like Rackhams, some retailers postpone lighting upgrades to save money, they preserved outdated lighting such as traditional fluorescent and halogen lamps, rather than investment in energy-saving LED lighting.
It is undeniable that excellent lighting plays an important role in the operation of the store. LED shop lights is a good choice for energy and money saving.
